How Minnesota adopts the NEC
The Board of Electricity adopts each NEC edition by amending Minnesota Rules chapter 1315 (request for comments, dual notice, administrative law judge approval, filing, notice of adoption in the State Register). A review committee first recommends whether Minnesota amendments are needed. No legislative approval step was found for the electrical code.
Cycle. Follows the NFPA 3-year NEC cycle; the 2026 NEC was adopted about a year after publication.

Sources for the record itself come first, the state’s own records ahead of others. A label marks a source about something else, such as an exception. A source marked secondary is not the state’s own record.
