The commissioner adopts residential energy code updates by rule. Statute sets a residential target of 70 percent reduction in 2038, requires action on new model residential energy codes beginning in 2026, ties energy codes to a US DOE affirmative determination, and requires a report to legislative committees each January 15 after an adoption. No legislative approval of the rule was found.
Cycle. Statutory schedule for energy codes; the department describes a three-year energy code schedule.
